Questions to Ask at Assisted Living Homes
What levels of care are provided? What circumstances would require me to move? What is the staff to resident ratio?
What is included in the cost? Are there levels of care or service points? Is there a Community or move-in fee? How often do you increase your costs?
Do you provide? How far can I travel? Can I take a scooter or electric wheelchair?
What activities are provided? Who comes to the house? How are residents encouraged or notified of activities?
What is a typical weekly menu? May I eat in my room? What are the food choices? Can you handle a special diet? Are there snacks? How much time do residents have to eat?
Does a doctor or nurse practitioner come here? How are medications delivered to the home and administered? What are the financial arrangements?
How does the home smell and look? Are the current residents clean, comfortable, and happy? Does the relationship between staff and residents appear warm and friendly? Are the rooms clean and bright? What are the regulations regarding pets? What are the smoking regulations? How close is this location to visiting family and friends?
